I am so far behind with the blog; usual excuse of pressure of work but its not good enough – rest assured that I have given myself a good talking to… So, to start catching up, I thought I would just say a big congratulations to Tom & Sarah, who were married in Bath earlier this month. A lovely day; perfect weather despite it being November, lovely guests and just such a relaxed atmosphere – Tom & Sarah, it was a real pleasure to share the day with you both.
This post is to introduce you to Jake at Abundiflora; a great florist. We met Jake at Vicki & Tom’s wedding at Charlton House in Somerset and thought his flowers were beautful. Very simple, very stylish and a perfect match to the stunning wedding dress that Vicki had chosen. Abundiflora is based in Glastonbury and a perfect choice for your Somerset wedding. Here’s a selection of images taken by myself & my colleague Jeremy Gilson from the day… Continue reading
What will make your wedding day so special? Obviously, exchanging vows and promises is pretty central, as is having family & friend with you to witness those promises. But from the moment you wake up, a wedding day is unlike another day in your life and we think its really important to capture that, especially if you have one of our stunning hand-made albums in mind.
We love producing beautiful hand-made bespoke wedding albums. A beautiful wedding album will present your stunning pictures at their very best, which means friends and family will be totally ‘wowed’ when you are re-living your big day with them. But with so many options out there, if you want the best album possible, how do you go about it? Here are some tips and thoughts to help you decide…
1: Some couples book their photographer with the thought that wedding photography is all about what happens on the day – but great image capture is only the start – how the pictures are edited, post-produced and a keen eye for album design are all key skills worth investing in for the perfect album. So assess the complete offer when comparing different photographers to find what’s best for you. Continue reading
If the thought of a traditional ‘Hen Do’ makes you cringe, fear not – because Ston Easton Park has created the “Ultimate Girls Night In” package! There are so many options, not least because the beautiful Somerset setting lends itself perfectly to a wonderful weekend away with the girls.
One option is a super hollywood glamour portrait shoot. Our brilliant make-up artist, Vicki Waghorn works with me to create the perfect look for a hollywood glamour photoshoot. The bedrooms provide a great backdrop and with hollywood glamour in mind, the poses leave much more to the imagination than is revealed. Contact us here at Andrew Jackson Photography and we can talk through the details…
But if a photo shot wasn’t quite what you had in mind, how about taking part in Life Drawing Classes with a hot male model, or enjoying a Pink Champagne Afternoon Tea in one of their sumptuous lounges. Alternatively, Ston Easton can arrange dance lessons, hot air balloon rides, vintage hair & make-up lessons or a wine tasting before dinner. So many options…
Ston Easton offers either a bed & breakfast package or dinner, bed & breakfast package based on eight girls (or more) sharing twin rooms. Bed & breakfast rates from £65.00 per person per night or dinner, bed & breakfast from £102.50 per person per night. For more information and ideas please contact Phoebe or Anna in Events on 01761 240120
Girls, wouldn’t you just love some gorgeous shots of your man on your wedding day? This is the one part of the day that you won’t get to share and so to see your man and his mates getting ready makes for a great chapter in the album. Continue reading
When Five Rings Become two… firstly, big congratulations to everyone involved with Team GB & the Olympics. The athletes have delivered some awesome performances over the past few weeks and I’m sure we’re going to see even more amazing feats at the Para Olympic Games in a couple of weeks. Its not just the great medal count but in the actual delivery too – doesn’t it feel great that such a big event has been delivered so successfully on the world stage?
Secondly, extra congratulations go to all those Olympic athletes who are now swapping five rings for two and are planning their weddings! Over recent days, the press interviews have revealed quite a number of engagements and proposals, so it does seem that training programmes have been exchanged for wedding planning! It would be very special to look after the wedding photography so, Olympians, whether you are planning your day for Bristol, Bath, the Cotswold’s or beyond, do please give me a call – it would be lovely if we can show our appreciation with a great set of pictures for you.
The Essential Wedding Show takes place on Sunday, 30th September at Ston Easton Park, a beautiful venue ideal for Bristol, Bath & Somerset brides. As with all the best ideas, The Essential Wedding Show (TEWS as its affectionately known) started with a glass of bubbly and a moan (the moans had less calories than the canapes) – a moan about had bad most wedding fairs had become. I’ve been meaning to blog this picture for ages… I love it, but I can’t quite pin down why I like it so much. It might be because I love the body language and the shape of the picture; it might be because Anna & Rob’s wedding at Hotel du Vin, Bristol was such a pleasure to share with them or maybe it is the tone of the stone work that sets off the dress so well. Anyway, I love it and thought it was worth sharing – hope you like it!
Regular readers of this blog (did you notice the optimism of the plural there?) (hello, mum!) will know that I’m a big fan of pre-wed portrait shoots. The pre-wedding portrait session is an ideal opportunity to get to know each other a little better so that on the day, creating wonderful pictures together feels a more natural and easy process.
